Her coverage sectors have included traditional and renewable energy, chemicals, water, agriculture, farmland, and forestland.
From 2009 until early 2013, Nicola worked with a technology commercialization non-profit, eventually being promoted to Vice President leading a team of professionals. She worked with government entities, academic institutions, national labs (LBNL, LANL) and private companies to commercialize their technologies, advance their business plans, and aid them in seeking funding. She introduced the first Cleantech Open chapter in Nevada, and the first Startup Weekends in Reno and rural Nevada.
A graduate with honors of Magdalen College, Oxford, where she studied politics, philosophy and economics, Nicola also holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) qualifications. “THE ACCELERATOR FUND MIGHT BE THE SEXIEST THING THE CITY IS DOING TO BOOST STARTUPS"
Indoor Ag-Con hosts events about indoor agriculture; growing produce and raising fish in greenhouses, warehouses and containers using hydroponic, aquaponic and aeroponic technologies. Our events unite farmers, growers, chefs, technology geeks, suppliers, advocates and enthusiasts. We have welcomed participants from as far afield as Sweden, Israel and India, and sponsors have included multinational firms such as Philips and Whole Foods Market. Our work with sponsors has landed them prestigious coverage, such as in Fast Company and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
